The GCARA club was formed in 1930 by a local group from the St.Louis, Alma area Among the first members were:
W8DCQ- Fred Gall. W8EEY- Paul Woodland. W8AWE- Art Ayers. W8ECQ- Bill Goggin. W8KIQ- Hugh Woodland
The first club president was William C. “Bill” Goggin W8ECQ
The club had its own call sign for awhile W8IEC
